Platen mounted (PM) holders are designed to be used with press type welder platens or they can be used as components of any specialized weld fixture. They are offered in two body sizes which match the standard T-slot spacing of standard RWMA welders.
In order to minimize weld cost it is often prudent to make several welds with one stroke of the machine. If time is of the essence, this can be done with a dedicated machine design. Multiple cylinders would all operate at nearly the same time. Their timing is usually spaced slightly to reduce power demand. If multiple welds are in a modest space multiple cylinders may not fit. Then specialized multi spot equalizing holders might be the solution.
Offset holders are very commonly used in industry on press welders to reach over a lip or into a box. This is where there is no vertical room for a direct acting barrel holder.
Barrel holders are the most common holder used for standard press welders. They came in several barrel diameters ranging from 5/8 – 1 ½”. The most popular size is 1 ¼” diameter. Standard lengths are 8 and 12”.
Welding guns use special copper alloy arms/adapters which function as electrode holders. They attach to the gun on one end and have a cap taper at the other for the electrode. They are frequently called cap adapters.
